Palfinger expands portfolio with new offshore transfer system

The aim was to develop a method of smooth, seamless transport between vessels and any kind of offshore plat- form. The result is a multifunctional
hydraulic aerial lift system that can move both personnel and goods in a safe, quick and efficient way.

Technically, the system is compensated on various axes to absorb wave motion and can lift up to six people at once, as well as materials weighing up to 2,000 kilograms. It enables workplace access without having to bridge a height difference. “Other benefits are easy installation and light weight. It hardly affects ship stability meaning it can be installed on any size of work vessel,” said Fleck.

“This combination puts the OPTS in a league of its own. Combined with our own expertise in aerial work platform technology, as an integrated solution I’m sure it will set a new industry benchmark. It also serves to strengthen our leading position as a provider of complete high-quality solutions in the marine and offshore segments that can be tailored to specific requirements,” Fleck said.

PALFINGER made the move in response to the booming market for offshore transfer systems. “We expect demand to keep growing given the increasing number of public infrastructure projects – especially in offshore wind – and decommissioning of oil and gas rigs,” Fleck added.

These developments are key drivers for the global switch to greener energy. “Given our own sustainability values we are ideally positioned to support this transition. We’re also working on future-oriented solutions to integrate new and existing products into ships with alternative propulsion systems – both hybrid and fully electric,” he said.

PALFINGER also has a strong focus on advancing the industry’s digital transformation through solutions like all-electric jib cranes and its Smart Eye remote assistance offering that enables the company to share its expertise with service technicians on site in real time.

PALFINGER’s marine business team really looks forward to generating new leads and keeping up with longstanding contacts at Nor-Shipping. “Meeting customers face to face is vital to explain how we can add a competitive edge. We also want to remind everyone of the benefits of our global service network and DNV-certified training centres where delegates can get hands-on practice on our wide range of products,” Fleck said.
