The exhibitor experience with Optimarin

Optimarin is a pioneer in the niche Ballast Water Treatment (BWT) sector. Formed back in 1994, the Stavanger-headquartered business installed the world’s first commercial BWT system in 2000 onboard the Regal Princess. Since that point Optimarin has grown into a global operation, with an unparalleled track record for simple, reliable and easy to install (in both newbuild and retrofits) environmentally friendly systems. Today, Optimarin has sold around 1400 of its USCG approved units to a worldwide customer base.

The place to do deals

In the feature image on top of this page Optimarin seals a deal with Siem Offshore for another BWT system on its Nor-Shipping stand. Rune Høivik from Optimarin (left) shakes hands with Jon August Houge from Siem Offshore, accompanied by Optimarin’s Tore Andersen (right).

To find out more about their Nor-Shipping 2022 experience we spoke to Optimarin’s Executive Vice President Sales & Marketing, Tore Andersen.

Describe your Nor-Shipping 2022 experience in five words?

Very positive, lots of customers!

The Optimarin team getting ready to welcome visitors to their stand at Nor-Shipping 2022.

What was the highlight of Nor-Shipping 2022 for you/your company?

Firstly, it was connecting with so many people in the industry again in one place. Secondly, the response to our offering and the obvious demand for a quality product at a competitive price.

What was the main focus of your Nor-Shipping activity?

The launch of OptiLink, our cloud-based solution for collecting data from system operation. This is a breakthrough in delivering smart maintenance, ensuring compliance and continually optimising performance. Aside from that, as an organisation the focus was on meeting people, people and more people.

What surprised you about Nor-Shipping 2022?

The atmosphere was even better than expected. Everyone was so positive. I guess we’d all been waiting a long time for the first real, global event after the pandemic!

Why is Nor-Shipping such an important fixture on the industry event calendar?

This is the home for the maritime industry in Scandinavia – the place where everyone, from manufacturers, to suppliers, customers and other key stakeholders, meet and do business.

Apart from your own exhibition stand, was there another one that impressed you?

It’s difficult to single out any one stand, there were so many good ones. In my mind, it’s the entire atmosphere that remains the most memorable thing.

What are your hopes and expectations for Nor-Shipping 2023?

The same positivity and ambition from everyone, but this time with more representation from Asia and elsewhere. I’m looking forward to the world opening up properly again!
