Deep Sea Minerals - Opportunities for Shipping and Beyond
For the first time in its history, Nor-Shipping is proud to introduce a dedicated conference focusing on Deep Sea Minerals, an emerging sector poised to provide critical raw materials for the global energy transition. As demand for these essential resources grows, deep sea exploration and extraction are gaining momentum as a means to secure the materials required for batteries, renewable energy, and advanced technologies.
The 1st Deep Sea Minerals Conference
The conference takes place at Studio 2 on 4 June from 09am to noon and will bring together key stakeholders, including deep sea mineral companies, equipment manufacturers, maritime operators, to discuss the opportunities and challenges of this nascent industry. Topics will cover cutting-edge extraction technologies, knowledge and technology transfer opportunities, sustainable practices, and the evolving regulatory landscape. Join us as we explore the future of deep sea minerals and ask:
- What possibilities lie ahead for your organization?
- What knowledge and technology transfer opportunities can we envision?
Don’t miss this groundbreaking conference at Nor-Shipping, where a diverse panel of experts will share their insights on the innovation and collaboration needed to responsibly unlock the ocean’s potential. The first Norwegian licenses round for seabed mineral activity is planned to be awarded in the spring 2025. The initial phase focuses on exploration, with potential for production if sufficient knowledge demonstrates that extraction is both environmentally responsible and economically viable.
