The exhibitor experience – Ulstein and Nor-Shipping 2022

With a history dating back to 1917, Ulstein, headquartered in Ulsteinvik, Norway, has developed into one of the world’s foremost ship designers and builders. The firm is known for its innovative approach to industry challenges, as demonstrated by its revolutionary X-BOW® design and the recent launch of the THOR vessel concept (a unique, Thorium-powered Replenishment, Research and Rescue design).

Ulstein has strengths across multiple shipping segments, including offshore wind, exploration cruise, and RoPax, amongst others.

To find out more about Ulstein’s Nor-Shipping 2022 experience we spoke to Tonje Øyehaug Ruud, Public Relations Manager, Ulstein.

Describe your Nor-Shipping 2022 experience in five words?

Fantastic to meet people again!

What was the highlight of Nor-Shipping 2022 for you/your company?

I can’t say there was any one particular highlight, we just enjoyed the sense of community, enthusiasm and energy that comes from the global industry gathering again. It’s been too long!

What was the main focus of your Nor-Shipping activity?

Ulstein’s Nor-Shipping activity is always built around branding, industry positioning and communicating our messages to key stakeholders. This is a natural place for us to make our presence felt.

Why is Nor-Shipping such an important fixture on the industry event calendar/what makes it unique?

This is a critical arena for the maritime cluster to come together. Our purchasers can meet suppliers, while our sales organisation can meet existing business partners and get to know new ones. Ulstein is an established player within the cluster and it’s great to have this kind of physical hub to meet, build relationships and exchange views.

Apart from your own exhibition stand, was there another one that impressed you (and why)?

DNV’s corner stand in hall D has such a great position, it’s always an eyecatcher. The Bertel O Steen stand in Hall C had some excellent material on show and a great method of presentation. Also, Jotun and ABB have to get a shout for being so welcoming with lovely sandwiches (Jotun) and great coffee (ABB). One must never underestimate the value of hospitality, it’s a key enabler for networking and relationship building. That’s why we always make sure to have a “happy hour” on our stand at the end of the day!

What are your hopes and expectations for Nor-Shipping 2023?

More of the same with, hopefully, even more international stands now the global pandemic is finally under control.
