The Nor-Shipping Energy Efficiency Award addresses more than emissions, focusing on the root of the problem rather than its consequence.
At the Nor-Shipping 2017 Opening Conference on May 30, four nominees were publicly honored for their commitment to reducing shipping’s environmental impact with a focus on practical solutions and performance. The award was handed out by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Haakon in front of a prominent industry audience at the Nor-Shipping Opening Conference.
Winner 2017: MV Venture Joy
The winner of the Energy Efficiency Award 2017 was Venture Joy, designed by Deltamarin for Hamburg Bulk Carriers, Germany. Malcolm Latarche, Chairman of the judging panel said that the jury members had been impressed by the fact that the ship had been designed from the outset with energy efficiency and environmental performance levels in mind while still managing to satisfy the needs of an “industry workhorse. Winner 2015
In 2015, the Energy Efficiency Award went to Harvest Frost, a revolutionary 95,000dwt bulk carrier designed by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, built by Oshima Shipbuilding and delivered to Archer Daniels Midland USA.
