Nor-Shipping is delighted to confirm that NJORD, Norway’s leading maritime student organisation, has signed up as a partner for Nor-Shipping 2027, taking place 7-11 June.
As a result, NJORD will continue its breakthrough Student Ambassador Programme, first piloted in 2025, connecting new talent with the international industry and accelerating career opportunities.
Unique access
The 2025 collaboration saw NJORD recruit a top team of student ambassadors who worked to introduce their peers to the world’s leading maritime event week.
Ambassadors highlighted the key strengths of Nor-Shipping, explaining the benefits of attending and providing free tickets. In return, they received goodie bags, entry to events, a certificate and all the advantages of being part of the Nor-Shipping team – including access to both networking and knowledge sharing activities, and the chance to connect face-to-face with industry decision makers.
The three ambassadors that recruited the most students also received tailored career development sessions from DNV, a Nor-Shipping Main Partner, alongside special gifts.
Bright future
Anders Kårbø Rong, the leader of NJORD, describes 2025 as “a huge success”, adding that “the race is now on” to recruit a new set of oustanding ambassadors for Nor-Shipping 2027.
“Our first initiative really demonstrated the appetite among students to get closer to the maritime industry,” Kårbø Rong comments, noting that the ambassadors engaged with “hundreds” of students throughout the week.

“What made the programme particularly valuable was that students weren’t just attending Nor-Shipping – they were actively involved. Through the Ambassador Programme, Career Port and the different events throughout the week, they had the chance to meet and work alongside people from right across the global industry. For many, those conversations created connections that would otherwise be almost impossible to make at such an early stage in their careers.”
Kårbø Rong adds that this was also true of his own experience, noting that he “came away with a much broader network,” adding: “And that’s exactly the kind of bridge between students and industry that we want NJORD to create.”
Enabling ambition
Sidsel Norvik, Director, Nor-Shipping shares Kårbø Rong’s enthusiasm for both the past and future impact of the partnership, explaining: “For the maritime industry to maintain and strengthen its position at the head of world trade, we need to attract the best new talent from a variety of educational backgrounds – from engineering and technology to finance, economics, law, sustainability and more. We know the talent and ambition are out there and, with our immersion in this incredible industry, we know the opportunities are there too, for both employers and future employees. The challenge is connecting them.
“At Nor-Shipping we’re laser-focused on doing just that: ensuring not just greater numbers of students at our events, but greater participation, delivering greater value. The fact that we’ve chosen NEXT as our 2027 theme demonstrates our commitment to building a brighter future for all our industry stakeholders. I look forward to seeing NJORD’s contribution to that goal in Oslo and Lillestrøm next summer.”
Flying start
Kårbø Rong confirms that NJORD is now open for applications to the Nor-Shipping 2027 Student Ambassador Programme. Alongside profiling the event and attracting student participants, other tasks include creating engaging social media content, supporting the Career Port programme, welcoming guests and delegates to NJORD events, and “helping solve challenges as they arise.”
He concludes: “This really is a unique opportunity to experience Nor-Shipping from the inside out, opening exciting doorways for your future career. You don’t need prior industry expertise, just ambition, curiosity and a willingness to get involved. I’d encourage anyone with an interest in a maritime career to apply!”
