H.R.H Crown Prince Haakon of the Norwegian Royal Family attended the Opening Conference and handed out awards to the winners of Nor-Shipping’s award initiatives (the Energy Efficiency Award, Young Entrepreneur Award and Next Generation Ship Award).
Through generations of shipping, offshore and fishery, the Norwegian cluster holds the key to exploring the last frontier – the ocean space. Offshore petroleum and renewables and the new ocean industries are explored through this intensive program.

OCEAN INDUSTRY PODIUM
This is where the maritime world meets. Key and emerging shipping markets congregated at Nor-Shipping 2017 to showcase opportunities, promote expertise and build long-lasting connections, profile and industry influence.
Africa, Brazil and the Asian Belt was identified as this year’s Podiums. Structured around the Pecha Kucha model, the Ocean Industry Podium mixes VIP Roundtable Meeting sessions with networking and press events. Building on topics from the main conferences, this was your arena for interactive and in-depth discussions.
Facilitated by our partner Fathom Maritime Intelligence, these one hour collaborative discussions was dedicated to the future markets and technologies of the Ocean Industries, where we challenged the status quo through addressing “the controversial questions”. With an under representation of female leaders in leadership roles, gender is a key issue, but it is not the only area to address.

OCEAN OPPORTUINTY TALKS: ATTRACKTING TOMORROW’S PROBLEM SOLVERS
Ocean Opportunity Talks is a digital and physical initiative promoting the maritime world to students, young professionals and entrepreneurs both within and outside of our industry. The initiative is built on the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Ocean Opportunity Talks will cover various hot topics in our industry where we need the next generation’s participation to move From Problem to Profit.
Young professionals are an integral part of the Nor-Shipping mix, and this is now visible like never before during the event week. Developed via partnership with the non-profit organization YoungShip, the Young@Nor-Shipping program offers seminars, company presentations, social events and more. Included in this is the Young Entrepreneur Award, which publicly recognizes an innovative, under-40 leader.
Seminars and workshops on circular economy, blockchain, sustainable business models and more. Schools & universities were invited to attend for free. You can participate as part of a class/group or register individually.
